Because there was something missing.

At the beginning of 2018 I was hungry for any way to just have a chance to show the Black Hills what underground music had to offer. But there was a huge problem – people seem to think that “underground” means local. Unfortunately, “local” has a stigma for meaning “crap.” I knew that something needed to change in the mindset before that would be possible.
The simple truth is that most people aren’t interested in going to events for people they’ve never heard before. Then when they do go out, it’s for their favorite radio artist. People will pay hundreds of dollars to buy tickets for a big name and still not show up for the opening acts. What the public may not know is that artists will pay hundreds of dollars for those short opening sets; so it can be truly disheartening for traveling artists at times.

We needed to change that.

At the end of February, an idea was sparked. It just hit like a ton of bricks – live music was missing the spontaneity and meaning of “live performance.” To be short – the staging fell flat.
By March the whole Dirty DAHG team was working on putting together a monthly event series called “Rapper’s Delight.” It featured the best talents around competing for crowd vote to win money and the title of king for the night. There were freestyle battles to blow minds. It was always a live wire event!

What Went Wrong

Nothing, really. Rapper’s Delight was an overall success that helped gain awareness of Dirty DAHG Productions across the Black Hills. But building an underground music scene from ground zero takes time and the Black Hills just weren’t ready… yet.
That didn’t stop Dirty DAHG from making sure the series still had a home! A couple of months into Rapper’s Delight, OSH from BluePrint Linguistics began a Casper series. Once DDP figured out the change needed to happen, Rapper’s Delight was given entirely over. Anyone in the Casper area can still catch a show each month at the Eagles Club! (RIP Soldiers will be performing for Koldest in February on the 23rd.)

The Rapper’s Delight Accomplishment

The Rapper’s Delight baby brain child grew from a seed into a badass flower… the kind with speakers built in so that all the tiny things can party. The series set the tone for what to expect from a Dirty DAHG Productions event. It’s now become a staple to incorporate games and giveaways for the crowd. For the artists we always offer a sweet promo deal along with pictures from the night. The artists are handpicked to make sure the evening starts with a bang and ends when the venue closes.

Dirty DAHG Productions is here to bring the party.
