If you are a business owner, you need to be on Clubhouse.

No exceptions. No excuses. If you have time for ONE social media platform, this is the one.

It does not matter what industry you are in, if you have a brick-and-mortar business or are solely online, or if you are a serial entrepreneur with decades of experience or just starting out.

GET ON HERE – but don’t buy an invite… it’s actually against Terms of Service.

I am obsessed and completely in love with this platform because it is doing what social media was intended. It’s bringing people together in the way social media was originally intended. My belief is that social media’s initial purpose was to supplement and foster new and existing relationships. Somewhere along the way, it shifted to a more business focus and has evolved into a thriving industry (one I love and have built a successful business from). But Clubhouse is bringing social media back to it’s roots… while still providing opportunity to generate revenue for business owners.

What is Clubhouse?

Clubhouse is the audio-only, invite-only, iOS 13+ only, real-time only, social media network that has taken the world by storm. But it’s not “just another social media platform.”

The platform has been described as an “interactive podcast” or “talk radio 2.0” but I would say it’s more like a 24/7/365 convention with hundreds of thousands of breakout sessions and networking opportunities for literally, any topic or industry.

Clubhouse is breaking the barriers of geographical restraints, just like other social media platforms, AND the barriers of traditional social media.

With traditional social media, you have “access” to Bill Gates, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, Elon Musk, Tony Robbins… you get the idea. You can share their content, send them a private message, and HOPE that it will bypass the bots, virtual assistants, and “other messages” category – but with Clubhouse, the doors swing open and you’re given an opportunity to speak to these influential and successful people in real-time.

Clubhouse is your (personal) brand powerhouse.

You are given a stage to be interactive – something traditional social media attempts to do, but Clubhouse has succeeded. When you’re on a Clubhouse stage, you’re able to shine. The name of this social media platform is best explained by Joseph Ortega, “serve your way to success.”

Providing value and incredible takeaways every time you speak or asking really great, on-topic questions is the best way to gain a following.

Give before you ask. People pay attention to the bios on the app and they WILL dig deeper into what you do and who you are.

Clubhouse helps your other social media platforms grow – organically.

Just in the last 30 days of using Clubhouse, my Instagram account reach has increased by 163%, my content interactions have gone up by 648%, and my total follower count has increased by 27%.

Business deals are being made here.

Millions of people, including myself, are making money by adding Clubhouse as part of their business’s sales funnel. Now, that’s not to say I’m pitching every single time you speak… but it’s a casual drop of information that I happen to have a promotion going on, my new social media course is launching in April, or I have a freebie for anyone interested.

Make it part of your sales funnel!

Influential connections are happening.

What’s so great about Clubhouse is that it is International. But most of the people I have connected with are here in the United States. I landed my first client in New York, I am part of a joint venture led by an individual in Los Angeles, I’ve learned about the hearing impaired from an incredible woman in Texas, there’s a credit repair ninja in Las Vegas… you get the idea.

On a professional level for myself, I’ve followed Neal Schaffer when I first began my career in social media and digital marketing. Neal is a fractional chief marketing officer, consultant, and speaker on digital and social media strategy, content marketing, influencer marketing, and LinkedIn. On day number two or three of using the app, I joined his conversation and we are now connected on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.

Just think… who in your profession or in your life would you love to be connected with versus just following online?

How do you get in?

To join Clubhouse, you need to receive an invite from a connection who is already on the app. When you join, you get two! Be mindful who you invite as you are forever connected to their profile and if they violate terms of service, you can be banned or put in “Clubhouse Jail” yourself.

Once you’re in, here are a few tips:

  • Your username is search engine optimized – I used my business for branding… and Ashley Smith was taken (go figure, haha).

  • DO NOT FOLLOW THE SUGGESTIONS and pick two or three interests instead of ALL of them. This is going to clog up your feed. I recommend coming into the app, joining rooms, and following the individuals you find value in.

  • Your entire bio is search engine optimized and your first three lines will show up when people tap on your photo, so make these the most powerful. Use keywords and emojis!

  • Your profile photo should be of your face. Colored backgrounds are popular.

  • Set up an Instagram account. If you don’t have one, get one. There is no in-app chat feature for Clubhouse (yet), and while Twitter is also an option, most conversations are happening on Instagram. You don’t have to post anything if you don’t want to (but I also recommend you do), just place in your bio “Here for Clubhouse DMs” and you’re golden!

  • I recommend creating a connection landing page or using a service like Linktr.ee or Milkshake for links to where people can learn more about you and/or your business, and adding this to your Instagram (and Twitter) bio.

  • Block out two-hours for Clubhouse at least once or twice per week. I average about 40-45 hours per week on this platform. MAKE THE TIME. Hire someone to help you do tasks you can delegate. It will be well worth the investment.

This will get you started, but if you’d like a personal FREE tour of the app and more information on how to best use Clubhouse specific to you, give me a follow on Clubhouse (@socialjargn) and Instagram (@socialjargn), then shoot me a DM with the words CLUBHOUSE TOUR. I don’t do bots or virtual assistants; I answer all of my own DMs! So if you don’t receive a response right away, I promise to get back to you ASAP.
