What holds your body together?

According to Jodi, her body is held together by MSM! Today we talk about different ways to help maintain joint health by either the right stuff to maintain elasticity or protection from inflammation. There are many options for how to help our joints, and today we’ve got some good stuff to help with the choice.

We begin with a little small talk, and personal updates. PSA – for anyone looking for a job, Back to Nature is hiring and it’s a great place to work! Also, Jodi is celebrating 25 years of business in Sturgis, so be sure to stop in and see what in store!

1:56 – This is when we start diving into this week’s overall topic: Joint Health. (Although, there’s a large portion of the conversation today dedicated to MSM.) In a previous podcast episode we talked in depth about the right kind of calcium supplements to take in order to allow the body to process it effectively. When it comes to joint health, calcium is very important! But it will only help if it’s not made from rocks and shells.

03:35 – Jodi also talks a bit about MSM and why she loves it so much for joint health! This wonderful mineral is a natural sulfur that can be found in things like beef. Jodi talks about why this mineral helps so well, and why she calls it the “glue that holds her together.” She also explains why Dr. David Wolfe calls it the “Fountain of Youth.” MSM can help with joint pain, skin conditions, inflammation, dental disease, lung problems, and so much more!  She shares personal testimony about how greatly MSM has impacted her life. Jodi also noted that “The Miracle of MSM” might be a great read for anyone wanting to know even more!

Pro-tip – Take MSM with Vitamin C to enhance the effectiveness!

09:00 – Much like the wrong calcium supplement, Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements may not be as effective as marketed and in some cases could even be harmful. Jodi discusses why these may or may not be helpful to the human body. She also discusses alternative therapies like direct injection into the joints. There are many options to help, some more costly and some more effective than others. But there are many different options for people to get the good nutrients and minerals into the body.

12:00 – One of the options to get good vitamins is through bee pollen and alfalfa. We’ve discussed bee pollen benefits in depth during a previous episode. But since then, Genneca has begun taking it daily and so today she shares a short update on the effects. It’s a blessing to be able to cope easier with daily stresses! Plus, Jodi talks about another great supplement to help the body deal with stress called “Great Stabilizer.”

14:44 – Another wonderful tool in the holistic arsenal is turmeric. This stuff contains curcumin, the active ingredient, and it is known as the world’s greatest natural medicine because of how tough it is on inflammation, and more! Curcumin can help with arthritis as well by protecting the joints from inflammation. Frankincense is another great anti-inflammatory mentioned, and they all tie together. Jodi delves into some great facts and information before a moment is taken to celebrate our human-ness and blunders. BTW – Jodi has little booklets available with great information about turmeric and curcumin at Back to Nature! All one would have to do is go in and ask!

18:15 – Did you know that curcumin is a powerful antioxidant? Antioxidants kill free radicals in the body that can cause cellular damage. This is awesome news, because people come into a lot of contact with free radicals but turmeric is pretty widely available. Jodi talks about the best ways for the body to receive turmeric to really process it in the body. She also mentions an interesting experiment that showed as much success against cholesterol as Lovastatin. Needless to say, turmeric can pack an amazing punch.

20:33 – An interesting item to note is that a little inflammation is natural. It’s actual the body’s natural response to aid in healing. But too much inflammation can cause further problems, so if we give our bodies the tools to maintain itself, there will be less worry. It’s also really important to note that these podcasts are purely a way to get information out there so that each individual has more power to make good decisions. Sometimes it’s better to say something that might help than take the chance of not helping when we could have. It’s the way that Jodi tries to make the world a better place. The other way is by wearing a smile!

24:30 – For anyone in the Black Hills area who might be traveling through Sturgis, remember to stop in to Back to Nature for great deals on produce bundles, organic beef and chicken, yummy snack foods, and more! It’s a friendly store with a lot to offer, and Jodi has many resources for anyone interested in finding out more about what can be done for their health! Cheers to 25 more years of making an impact in Sturgis!
