Trying New Things

We have been saying thanks for all the support, but I really wanted to say it one more time to our sponsors of the Promote Your Business Spring Mixer.

What a Beautiful Fail

Things didn’t work out the way it was planned for the Promote Your Business Spring Mixer by a long shot. We tend to focus much of our abilities on live events at Dirty DAHG, but with the entire world trying to figure out how to deal with a pandemic and everything closed down we didn’t have much option but to look for an alternative way to make this happen.
The goal behind the mixer was just too important to not let happen. I felt like I was about to let my team down, our wonderful sponsors, and myself. So, online it was.

I had no idea what I was doing

Hosting an online event was (and still is) a very brand new and strange animal in my eyes. Too be honest, I was REALLY nervous. Thanks to Shaina Hargens, there was a practice conference a few days before so that we could be sure everything was in order and had promoting it for months. So it should all work out, right? Yes… and also most definitely no.

The Country Twins

This radio station has been around since 1959 still keeps an organic relationship with the tri-state community that tunes in everyday! There is A LOT of content for our listeners, but for our small business owners the value of advertising on this station is immense. You’ll be able to reach a demographic of people comprised of truckers, ranchers, farmers, movers, shakers, groovers – and not all of these fine folks have access to internet or listen to today’s hottest music. Mix that information with the prices and you have a huge asset to spread the word about your business and bring people to your website or storefront

There was a lot of great information!

Radio Advertising for Small Businesses

Our wonderful speakers were lined up and ready to roll by 5pm. I spoke first about radio advertising for small businesses. On behalf of  The Country Twins, I gave a brief rundown of information to help any person thinking about whether or not to advertise on the radio. We also discussed some tips to write the commercial in order to make it effective. You can see what you missed by clicking HERE.

Printed Marketing Options

Jon Simpson, Vice President of Simpson’s Printing, spoke about the different options available that have successfully been used with printed advertising. Of course, flyers and business cards are great for branded marketing, but having your name printed across your storefront window or scenting the paper in your mail campaign are a couple of unique ways to really make an impression. The full recap from Jon’s talk will be published soon!

Simpson’s Printing

There’s so much more to print advertising than business cards and flyers, and Simpson’s can do pretty much all of it! This family owned business has been around since 1965 and has come to own a reputation of impressive quality standards matched with fair prices. Banners, topographical maps, books, decals, and they can even help with website building and search engine optimization.
If you’re looking for a way to make your business stand out, be sure to give Simpson’s Printing a call… or stop on in to one of their locations.

Final topic – Easy Tasks

Shaina Hargens was our final speaker. You might otherwise know her as “The Connection Queen.” Shaina has an exuberant spirit and a knack for helping people to take small steps that build a big foundation for your business. She’s even got a 30 day program coming up specifically designed to aid business owners entrepreneurs creating a big company presence using easy moves. It’s all about the connection! If you’re interested, be sure to keep an eye out for the full recap of Shaina’s talk in the next couple of weeks. Or just reach out directly by calling 605.881.1708 or messaging on Facebook by clicking HERE.

Big Failure/ Big Win

It was a really great Zoom conference. Even though the program wasn’t packed with people, and even though we didn’t get to “mix it up” like intended – it was a big win. The purpose was to bring people together and put information out there for others to use to grow their business. Now the process is simply more drawn out.

Amos’s Barbershop

If you’re looking for an awesome hair cut with a side of charisma for a really good price, look no further than at Amos’. He is such an all-around good guy and this business has been his baby for some years. Originally located in Belle Fourche, SD, you can now find him in the strip mall on North Avenue in Spearfish. His doors are open and I just know that he would love to see new faces come in and experience the Amos way of doing things.

Because of our Sponsors

Amos’s Barbershop, FunZone Virtual Reality in Rapid City, as well as The Country Twins, Simpson’s Printing, and Life Light Creative did a big thing by sponsoring the event.
By sponsoring, those businesses endorsed the vision. They were willing to put their names on it so that everyone knew that they were in support of the goal. That’s huge!

For me, personally – there aren’t enough words of thanks to the people who support what we’re trying to do.

But it didn’t end there

Since May 23rd, I’ve released and then revised a list of resources to help business owners wanting to market in the Black Hills. There are A LOT of great people who sculpt their days around ways to brand and market a business. Or how about those cool cats that can create branded items for your storefront or online store? You can have a copy of the resources list by emailing dirtydahgbooking@gmail.com

We’ve also begun a weekly newsletter to help really cross-promote, network, and share ideas and information. It’s called the Small Business, Big Moves newsletter. It’s brand new and still evolving, but you are definitely invited to join the ride! Just scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up!

FunZone Virtual Reality

Living in the midwest, we just don’t have the same access to all the new advanced attractions that big cities get. Because of that, when there is a chance to get out it is always good to know your options. One place to take the family if you’re ever headed to Rapid City, SD is FunZone! The environment is kept well cleaned and sanitized, so there’s no worry about spreading any naughty little bugs. All you need to do is call ahead to schedule a time for you and the kiddos to get down on some games.

So, no – Saying “Thanks” is definitely not enough for the support. But that’s why we’re just going to keep pushing forward with the goal.
If you missed the information from the mixer – it will all be available. Dirty DAHG Productions will continue working to build our small businesses up by doing little things to remind people of how important they are.
As long as we are able to work together to cross-promote and network, we can put the focus back on our small businesses and money directly back into our communities.

Everyday, we’ll keep striving to Rise Together!

Keep Shining!
