Naturally Speaking is back!

It’s our kickoff episode of the new Naturally Speaking segment! I (Genneca Houser) get to host it, but that’s really only so that I can ask questions. Jodi Harris is the phenomenal mind bringing purpose to our weekly short podcast by sharing her extensive knowledge each week! For anyone who may have been tuning in during my time on The Country Twins Radio Station (KBFS/KYDT), you may already be familiar with the amount of information in such a short time; Jodi and I would talk live on air every Monday morning at the end of the Morning Show for a time. It was so much fun!

(Shout out to The Country Twins for giving Naturally Speaking a start! If you’re in the Black Hills Tri-State region, you can still tune in to 1450 AM or 103.1 FM and catch the Community Events and more!)

Naturally Speaking

Show Notes:

This is just a taste of what you’ll hear in the podcast!

2:20 – To start things off, Jodi decided to speak about Minerals – “the building blocks of your body.” It’s not often emphasized how important it is for your body to be getting the proper building blocks to remain or become healthy. It’s also not commonly known, it seems, that vitamins and minerals in one form may not be as beneficial as others.

“…I would say that about 90% [of minerals] that are on the shelves everywhere are not in a form that the body can easily use at all.” – Jodi Harris (2:45)

3:30 – Calcium got the major spotlight in today’s discussion; it was for good reason, though. According to Jodi, calcium is not only the most important mineral for your body but also the most abundant mineral in your body making up 2-3 pounds of body weight at times! She also talks about all of the great things calcium does for the body and where we can get good calcium for our bodies. It’s not quite as simple as your daily dose of milk anymore.

“Dairy used to have calcium, but then when they started pasteurizing it took all the enzymes out that actually made the calcium available to the body.” – Jodi Harris (4:54)

7:18 – Minerals altogether are super important, though. A person always benefits from an array of minerals working together in order to promote the best absorption within the body. Sometimes a mysterious ailment or illness could even stem from something as simple as the wrong balance of minerals. It’s for that reason that Back to Nature offers hair analysis for  people who are wanting to know what their body is lacking. Incredible what information can be found in a follicle of hair!

It may be just as incredible what process your body goes through to get those minerals into the system! Jodi talks about the process of chelation and why it’s so important within the body.

“The stronger the chelator… the less the mineral is affected by other chemical changes and it is more likely to enter the cell.” – Jodi Harris (10:07)

10:44 – Osteoporosis can be a scary thing! Jodi talks about what she takes to keep her bones “elasticky.” She also spoke about some studies that have been done that suggest there are ways to prevent and even reverse osteoporosis.

“Now hormone balance is essential, too. And of course, estrogen therapy can only slow calcium loss, where progesterone therapy has been shown to reverse it.” – Jodi Harris, speaking on a study by Dr. John R. Lee, M.D. (13:36)

14:34 – Did you know that using the wrong Calcium supplement could be stored in the body as a toxin? Is your calcium hurting your body? Be sure to stop in to Back to Nature in Sturgis for a free calcium chart!

“…the time to take calcium: in the daytime, it’s absorbed more by the muscles and if you take it at night, it’s absorbed more by the bones. So, yeah – take it twice a day.” – Jodi Harris (21:05)

22:20 – As a final question, I just had to ask about the nutrients in the soil around the WY and SD – so hang on ‘til the end to hear about what Jodi found through providing hair follicle tests about our farmland!
