The Legacy
Half Dead and Guardian Angel write music to express themselves, to tell stories, and to carry on a legacy of music and poetry about real life. Music is a universal language that carries memories across generations.
The Dynamic Husband and Wife Duo
Half Dead and Guardian Angel met while working together at Old Chicago in 2009. But it wasn’t until August of 2010 that the sparks began to fly. They had been trying to find a time to get together to work on music for months. Nothing seemed to work out. Then one night, Half Dead called her on a whim to see if she would come out for his birthday. Guardian Angel spent the night and pretty much never left. She saved his life that night, and she found the piece of her heart that had been missing. The chemistry was undeniable and it wasn’t long before they began building a family and an empire together.
Becoming THE Duo
They chose the name in an effort to make a name that stands for building lasting legacy as a team. Although neither has military affiliation, the name was a sort of homage to the type of family that was yet to be built up; the kind of group and support that fights for each other and those in need.
Since 2010, RIP Soldiers have been known to travel all over with their music together. RIP Soldiers have been featured on shows with Esham, MC Magic, Zig Zag, Scum, Liquid Assassin, Kung Fu Vampire, Whitney Peyton and more. They even traveled to Ottowa, IL on an invitation to open for Twista.
Then from 2018 until 2020, RIP Soldiers spent summers in the Black Hills running the most badass underground events company (Dirty DAHG Productions) and still traveling with their music. The couple somehow make it all work while raising three amazing kids!
After a few years with minimal events in person, this year begins some new opportunities! You can catch Half Dead and Guardian Angel hosting some new live music events for Dirty DAHG Productions beginning in April!
